Welcome to St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral
“By the grace of God, Saint Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral has been a beacon of the Orthodox Christian faith in Anchorage since 1967, serving both residents and visitors alike. We pray that this website may assist you in deepening your understanding of the Holy Orthodox Church, the life of our parish, and our liturgical services.
Rooted in the spiritual heritage of the first Orthodox missionaries to Alaska, our Cathedral is home to a diverse community of faithful, including Alaska Natives from the Aleut, Alutiiq, Yupik, Athabascan, and Tlingit communities and people of Slavic, Greek, Ethiopian, and American descent.
Our divine services are offered in English, yet we steadfastly preserve and honor the sacred languages of our forebears. Alaska Native and Slavonic languages hold a treasured place in our worship, not merely as echoes of the past, but as living expressions of faith that unite us with the saints and elders who have walked this holy path before us.
With open hearts, we warmly welcome all, Orthodox and seekers alike, to join us in prayer and divine worship.” -The Most Reverend Alexei, Archbishop of Sitka and Alaska
